Extra Credit Projects for Electronics and Web Design Students

These projects can be completed at any time for credit with the extra points applied to the current quarter they are completed in.

More than one can be done and if all the listed options are used up I will think of another topic.

My usual rules apply.

Ø      Everything must be your own work. No plagiarizing!!!

Ø      You must always site your sources.

Ø      If a book or magazine article list the book or magazine name, the title of the article if from a magazine, the author and the page numbers.

Ø      If your information is from a web site you must list the entire address of the page(s) used—ALL PAGES.

Ø      You must place a corresponding footnote in the body of the document where the info is used.

Ø      YOU MUST USE A FORMAL BUSINESS LEVEL ENGLISH!!

Ø      If there are more than 3 spelling/grammar errors on any one page you will receive no credit.

Ø      You must save a copy of your finished work in your folder on the main server in MS Word or plain ACSII TXT format or no credit!

Each project must be constructed as follows…

Ø      5 pages long.

Ø      Double spaced.

Ø      You must use a true type font such as Times New Roman or Ariel, no “strange looking” fonts.

Ø      Title of the project must be on line 3 of page 1 and in 16 pitch.

Ø      Your name must be on line 4 in 14 pitch.

Ø      The first line of the first paragraph must be on line 6.

Ø      The body of the project must be in 14 pitch.

Ø      Page 5 must be at least ¾ full to count.

Ø      No graphics.

Ø      You must list ALL your sources in a bibliography that starts on the last page.

Your extra credit points will be determined by the following criteria.

  1. How well you adhere to the format described above.
  2. The contents. The more information and logical deductions made, the better the grade. However, you must have at least 5 logical deductions or supported opinions for credit!
  3. You must express your own ideas and/or conclusions. In other words, you must learn something, not just repeat facts.
  4. Do the bibliography or NO CREDIT AT ALL!!!

Here are the research topics you may use.

  1. The history of Microsoft Inc.
  2. The history of Intel.
  3. Development of the electronic digital computer.
  4. How the transistor has changed the world.
  5. How the microprocessor has changed the world.
  6. How communications technology has changed the world.
  7. Do a paper on the communications technology of your choice and describe in detail how it works. Be sure to use as much electronics as possible.
  8. Do a paper contrasting Windows with other operating systems and make a conclusion as to which is better and why.
