February Teacher Spotlight
Sandy Ehrat, Jr. High Language Arts Teacher
Tell me a little about yourself? I've been a teacher with the St. Elmo district since 2004. I started at the elementary with 4th grade, then moved to 5th grade, then to 5th and 6th grade math, and finally to the junior high and high school teaching language arts. I love my job and this district. I am married to a dairy farmer and we raised two amazing daughters who are both married now and have wonderful careers. Ellie is a C.P.A. in Shelbyville, and Paige works for the Illinois Senate as an Events Coordinator. Ellie also gave us our first grandchild, a sweetheart named Piper, and I am LOVING the granny life. We have a rescue dog named Paco, who is definitely spoiled, and is kind of treated like our third child. He absolutely makes our life better.
Favorite Quote?
My favorite quote is from Dolly Parton: "The magic is inside you. There ain't no crystal ball." I love this quote because we all have something special within us, we just have to work to find it and develop it.
Best advice ever given?
The best advice I ever received was from my grandma who taught me to believe in myself and to trust myself.
What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time, I love being with my granddaughter and family. I also love going out with friends. I sometimes crochet and I l LOVE buying shoes.
A little-known fact about you?
A little known fact about me is that I've written a novel. It's not very good, but I finished it.
