The St. Elmo Agriculture Department received a grant through the IDNR to create a garden and habitat for plants native to Illinois. This week the agriculture students are busy landscaping and creating an area for all students and staff to enjoy! The design of the landscape area was completed by Audrey Wilhour during her senior year in Horticulture class. Plants were provided by Eloe Landscapes Garden & Homes.

Community Service Portfolio Workshops
The Business Department and Community Service Class Instructors will be offering weekly Community Service Portfolio Workshops on Wednesdays in Rooms 110 (Mr. Mays) and 111 (Mrs. Cox) beginning on September 7, 2022. These weekly workshops will be available during WIN time (8:05 a.m. - 8:50 a.m.) to high school students who need assistance updating their school portfolio of community service hours. These "Wednesday Workshops" are not a requirement, but are strongly encouraged for students who need to update, add to, and/or complete their portfolios. Freshman and Sophomore students who have yet to take the Community Service Class do not need to attend the workshops until they have completed the class. Congratulations to the St. Elmo FFA Horse Judging Team for their first place overall finish today at the Section 19 Horse Judging CDE. Dylan Dial & Peyton Garrard finished in the top 5 as individuals. Team members include Emmalyn Wright, Macey Sapp, Wade Stine, Sydney Stine, Lane Stine, Wyatt Stine, Lane McAllister, Lane Goodwin, Peyton Garrard, and Dylan Dial.
The St. Elmo FFA Jacket Sponsor Program has had a great response from the community thus far and we are greatly appreciative of the support. Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year. We look forward to seeing students back in the buildings tomorrow. The Jr./Sr. High school will be operating on it's regular schedule with WIN time running from 8:05 a.m. - 8:50 a.m. and first hour starting at 8:53 a.m. Breakfast starts at 8:05 a.m. JH students will get breakfast and then return to their WIN classrooms to eat. High school students will eat breakfast in the cafeteria from 8:05 a.m. to 8:20 a.m. and then will go on to their WIN classrooms. Picture day will be on Thursday, August 18 in the a.m.
Tomorrow, 8/17/22, is the first day of school! The first day of school this year will be a full attendance day.
The H.S. Baseball team is selling laundry detergent & pods along with dishwasher pods, etc. Orders can be emailed to rbeccue@stelmo.org or though any H.S. Baseball player. The deadline to order is Aug. 22
The f/s volleyball match at Martinsville on 8/23 has been canceled. The J.V. match will begin at 6pm
JH Softball at Neoga today is canceled. A rescheduled date is TBA.
The team will practice from 3-4pm in the SEHS indoor cage.
Elementary students (pre-k to 6th) and parents; we will have our Meet the Teacher Night Tuesday, 8-16-22 from 4:30-6:00 p.m. This will be an opportunity to meet your student's teacher for the year and to drop off school supplies prior to the first day of school (8-17-22). JH BASEBALL ANNOUNCEMENT from Coach Aaron Miller. There will be a mandatory parent meeting this Friday, July 29th at 5:00pm in the Brownstown Elem Cafeteria. Practice will start Wednesday, August 3rd from 3:00-5:00pm. Practice will continue 8/3 & 8/4 from 3:00-5:00. Practices the following week (8/8-8/12) will be from 6-8pm. PLEASE BE SURE TO UPDATE PHYSICALS ASAP.
Jr. High Softball practice for 6-8 graders begins Monday, July 25 at 8:00am. Practices are 8:00-9:30am at Deken Park July 25-29. Be sure to turn in a current physical to the school office.
