St Elmo FFA - Illinois FFA Land Use CDE State Runner Up Champions - The St Elmo FFA competed in the Illinois State FFA Land Use CDE at Rend Lake College after advancing with a section win last week at Kaskaskia College. The team finished second place overall earning the team the title of Illinois FFA Land Use CDE State Runner Up Champions. Team members included Lane Stine, Wade Stine, Lowell Wilhour, Calvin Voelker, and Cami Haslett. Lowell Wilhour finished 6th Place Individually, Lane Stine finished 7th Place Individually, and Calvin Voelker finished 8th Place Individually. There were 32 teams that advanced to the state level competition with 127 individuals.
The St. Elmo FFA is holding their 4th Annual St. Elmo FFA Trick or Can event. FFA members will deliver plastic bags throughout the St. Elmo community on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm so please be on the lookout as they will be placed on the porch/front door of homes. If able, please fill bags with non-perishable food items that will be donated to the St. Elmo Food Pantry as we start to get into the holiday season. Place filled bags back on the porch/front door on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 by 4:00 pm.
St. Elmo FFA members will be there to pick up between the hours of 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm.

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming our amazing community helpers to our school for a special meet and greet! The students had a fantastic time learning about the important roles they play in keeping our community safe and thriving. A big thank you to all who joined us and made this experience so memorable for our kids!

Congratulations to the St Elmo FFA Land Use Team for finishing 1st Place Overall at the Section 19 Land Use CDE! Lowell Wilhour finished 1st Place Overall Individually with a score of 387. Lane Stine finished 2nd Place Overall with a score of 385. Wade Stine finished 3rd Place Overall with a score of 376. Calvin Voelker tied for 5th Place Overall with a score of 342. Cami Haslett finished 7th Place Overall with a score of 338. Dayana Haslett finished 11th Place Overall with a score of 314. Jack Wilhour finished 15th Place Overall with a score of 307. The team will now advance to the state level competition on Wednesday, October 16th at Rend Lake College.

St Elmo FFA attended the Section 19 FFA Leadership Training School at Greenville High School and held the Illinois State FFA Officer Visit where they focused on the topics of team work, ag literacy, creativity, and communication. The workshops were led by State FFA Treasurer, Emma Dinges and our very own Section 19 FFA Officer Team Members, Peyton Garrard and Wade Stine.

The St. Elmo/Brownstown Eagles are the Class 2A Softball Regional Champions after defeating #1 seed Pana by a score of 5-4 on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at Deken Park in St. Elmo.
SEB (13-6) will now play in the Gillespie Class 2A Sectional on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 11:00am vs. Staunton (13-0)
